Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Volunteer Programs for Teens and Adults
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, Colorado, offers a range of volunteer opportunities for both teens and adults who are passionate about wildlife conservation and education. Whether you’re a high school student looking to gain hands-on experience or an adult seeking to make a difference in your community, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Volunteer program has something for everyone.
Teen Programs
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s teen volunteer programs are designed to inspire and empower the next generation of conservation leaders. These programs provide middle and high school students with the chance to learn about animal care, environmental stewardship, and public engagement.
Zoo Crew
The Zoo Crew program is open to students in grades 6-8. Participants learn about the Zoo’s mission, engage in hands-on activities, and contribute to service projects that support the Zoo’s conservation efforts.
Junior Zoo Keeper
The Junior Zoo Keeper program is for high school students in grades 9-12. Volunteers in this program work closely with Zoo staff, assisting with animal care, exhibit maintenance, and visitor education.
Teen Leader
The Teen Leader program is for 11th and 12th-grade students who have completed the Junior Zoo Keeper program. These experienced volunteers develop leadership skills by mentoring younger teens and helping with various Zoo events and programs.
Adult Volunteer Program
In addition to the teen programs, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo also offers volunteer opportunities for adults aged 21 and older. The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Auxiliary is a group of dedicated volunteers who support the Zoo’s mission through a variety of tasks, including event planning, educational program support, and fundraising initiatives.
