The San Diego Zoo Night Safari, also known as Roar & Snore Safari, is a unique experience that allows visitors to camp overnight at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. This event is designed for adults only, providing a chance to relive childhood camping experiences while learning about the conservation efforts of the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance around the world.
Immersive Activities and Experiences
During the San Diego Zoo Night Safari, visitors can explore the Safari Park after dark, learn about conservation efforts, enjoy camping activities such as night hikes and s’mores around the campfire, and take a private Africa Tram tour to see notable species. For an enhanced experience, visitors can upgrade to the Supreme Roar & Snore Safari package, which includes a Flightline Safari zip line ride, a Night Vision Safari, exclusive viewing of wildlife ambassador encounters, and a Wildlife Safari in the back of a covered, open-air safari truck.
Tent Options for the Night Safari
The San Diego Zoo Night Safari offers three tent options for campers:
- Classic Tent: A traditional camping tent with a vinyl-covered tent floor and sleeping pads for up to five campers.
- Vista Tent: Similar to the Classic Tent but offers a view of the African Plains, home to giraffes, rhinos, antelope, and more.
- Premium Tent: The most luxurious option, featuring a queen bed, two cots, electrical outlets, a fan, a heater, wood floors, bed linens, pillows, and storage.

In addition to the San Diego Zoo Night Safari, the San Diego Zoo offers Nighttime Zoo, an event that allows visitors to experience the zoo after dark during the summer months. This event features live music, spectacular entertainment, and unique encounters with wildlife.
As part of the Nighttime Zoo experience, visitors can explore the Wildlife Explorers Basecamp, a 3.2-acre environment that blends immersive technology with opportunities to learn about unique wildlife species. This area is divided into four habitat zones: Rainforest, Wild Woods, Marsh Meadows, and Desert Dunes.
