Some of the organization’s key conservation programs include:
- Biodiversity Banking: Preserving genetic diversity through the Frozen Zoo®
- Community Engagement: Collaborating with local communities to protect wildlife and habitats
- Conservation Genetics: Utilizing genetic research to inform conservation strategies
- Disease Investigations: Studying and mitigating the impact of diseases on wildlife populations
- Plant Conservation: Protecting and restoring endangered plant species and their habitats
- Population Sustainability: Ensuring the long-term viability of wildlife populations
- Recovery Ecology: Developing and implementing strategies for species recovery
- Reproductive Sciences: Advancing reproductive technologies to support conservation efforts
Education and Outreach
Education and outreach are essential components of the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance’s conservation efforts. The Beckman Center for Conservation Research is the only dedicated conservation education lab in the world, offering interactive web-based training courses, wildlife experiences, and learning adventures for all ages.
Conservation Corps
